Assesment test

We have taken advantage of the Alliance Française network’s expertise to refine and elaborate our assesment test.
Now, we can provide you with:
- a better evaluation of your level
- a more accurate number of hours of instruction you will need to obtain the level you require.
The test, which takes about an hour, consists of a written part and an interview with a professional instructor.

Preparation for the evaluation in French as a second language

This course prepares participants to take the Public Service Commission’s test in FSL. Candidates receive a full preparation for each part of the test. The training consists of comprehension, expression, and oral interaction activities with a spiral and increasing progression. The teaching material is Program PFL2.

Below is an estimate of the training time required for different levels.
Beginner - B level: from 600 to 800 hours
Beginner - C level: from 800 to 1000 hours
B level - C level: 150 hours

A customized tranining duration will be determined after our assessment test is taken.

Practice for the Test of Oral Proficiency in French as a second language

This program familiarizes participants with the Public Service Commission’s Test of Oral Proficiency (TOP) in French. Candidates usually require special preparation for this test. First, typical questions and expectations of the examiner are presented and explained to familiarize the candidate with the test. Then, the candidate will take the mock tests simulating conditions of the actual experience. The candidate will be offered a detailed personal feedback and advice from the instructor. Note that an assessment is required before begining this program.

Training program duration: 15 hours.

Testimonials from Federal Public Servants

I have only kudos for the French language training offered by Alliance Française in Manitoba.  The director’s estimate of the time required to obtain my CBC levels was 100 percent accurate and this saved my department time and money. The professionalism of the professors was second to none and they tailored the training around my individual learning style. I would recommend AF to federal employees who are looking to obtain, maintain or renew their French language requirements. AF makes learning fun, fast, and economical.”
