TEF

We offer two main options for the TEF: the TEF Canada, for permanent residency and/or citizenship, and the general TEF (see below).

TEF Canada

The TEF Canada is recognised by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)  as proof of linguistic proficiency for applications for permanent residency and for Canadian citizenship.

TEF Canada provides the candidate with a linguistic snapshot of their level in French, placed on a 7-level scale based on the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFL) and the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).

TEF Canada is composed of 4 parts:

  • Reading comprehension: 60 min – 50 questions
  • Listening comprehension: 40 min – 60 questions
  • Written expression: 60 min – 2 subjects
  • Oral expression: 15 min – 2 subjects

If the results of a previous exam are not satisfactory, you have the option of taking one or several portions again without having to do the full exam. However, you must wait at least two months before retaking the exam.

The DELF and DALF are official diplomas from France’s national Ministry of Education. They are valid for life, awarded and recognized around the world.

The DELF and DALF officially certify the ability of students to use the French language in real-life situations, based on the six competency levels identified within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) .

Passing the DELF or DALF exam depends on your level within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A1 to B2 levels lead to the DELF and C1 to C2 levels lead to the DALF.
