The Centre culturel franco-manitobain (CCFM) and the Alliance Française du Manitoba are proud to present the third edition of the Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) in Winnipeg, on June 21st 2009.

Music everywhere and the concert nowhere”, was the wish of Maurice Fleuret, director of music and dance in France, when he created, in 1981, the concept of the Fête de la Musique at the request of Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture. Twenty-eight years later, the Fête de la Musique is an international success and a social phenomenon, celebrated in more than one hundred countries on all five continents.

The Fête de la Musique is thus not a festival, but a public and free event intended for everyone. It is a venue for all styles of music, from rock ‘n’ roll to traditional music, and is open to professional as well as amateur musicians. Also presented are workshops centered on music, designed for all!

This year for the first time, the Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) will be held at two different venues: at the CCFM from 12:00 noon to 10:00pm, and on Corydon Street from 3:30pm to 8:00pm!

Come one, come all, Sunday, June 21st to enjoy this free public event!
